Project site: Rajpur
What is Rajpur like?

ASHA operates in Rajpur, a mountainous area in the southwestern part of Nepal, about 400 km from Kathmandu. The main industry is agriculture with farmlands spreading out around the river, and there are more animals than people. The people of Rajpur do not rely on electricity, water, or the Internet, and live with nature.

Medical institutions in Rajpur
Rajpur currently has two *HPs (Health Posts) and eleven *CHUs (Community Health Units), which are public health institutions.
HP (Health Post)
A simplified version of a hospital, and is staffed by health assistants, nurses and midwives who can provide some level of medical care. Simple primary care, tests, and basic medicines are available.
CHU (Community Health Unit)
A simpler version of HP, and is similar to a school nurse's office. It provides very simple care and prenatal care, with the treatment provided by comedians who have undergone a short period of training.

Medical issues in Rajpur
Medical institutions still manage information on a paper basis and do not always have all the information of their patients. In remote areas where electricity is not available, X-ray machines are not usable even though they have it. In addition, there are still many issues to be addressed, such as lack of medical equipment to begin with, and the need for training of medical staff on how to use the software.
