What We Do
Build “Affordable and Sustainable Healthcare Access” Together
Creating a System Reliant on Local Communities
We are working towards creating a healthcare system that local communities can rely on, even in regions with insufficient medical resources. Through the synergy of community collaboration and technology, we aim to establish a self-sustaining healthcare system that operates independently on-site.
By introducing a locally-operated framework, our goal is to achieve a healthcare system that is accessible to everyone, affordable, sustainable, and reliable. The activities of ASHA in Japan are led by a diverse group of pro bono members with various experiences and perspectives.
The activities of ASHA in Japan are led by a diverse group of pro bono members with various experiences and perspectives. Because our teams are designed to accommodate individual lifestyles, a collaborative environment has emerged, bringing together pro bono members with diverse backgrounds. ASHA leverages our diversity of expertise to tackle the challenge of creating innovative healthcare systems.
Primary Healthcare Project
We are promoting community-participatory primary healthcare by empowering local residents with basic knowledge of health and first aid. Our initiatives focus on two key areas: 1) Building a reliable healthcare system utilizing the power of 'community' and 'technology,' and 2) Providing health education for Nepalese middle school students. By utilizing existing resources in Nepal, we aim to create a system where individuals can maintain good health within their communities, where they were born and raised, while living their everyday lives.
Establishing Reliable Healthcare Systems
To maximize the delivery of healthcare within limited resources, we employ 'Community Health Workers' from local residents. We have established a system to support individuals in need of health care, such as pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and those with lifestyle-related diseases, even in areas with difficult geographical and economic access. Additionally, we utilize a smartphone-based questionnaire app, 'ASHAConnect,' for community health workers, electronic health record (EHR) software 'NepalEHR' for healthcare facilities, and a 'Common Database' that integrates and stores data obtained from ASHAConnect and NepalEHR. This combination enables the provision of regionally optimized health and medical services.

Commitment to Solutions
While ASHA strives to improve healthcare access using technology, the real significance of technology comes when it is actually used. Therefore, ASHA, with the collaboration of Japanese and local members, thoroughly considers how to make the introduction and use of technology easy in the remote areas of Nepal. The organization is actively engaged in system development, implementation, and operation.
Introduction of Local Partners
In the course of its activities in Nepal, ASHA collaborates with local companies and organizations to advance its initiatives. 医療For the establishment of healthcare systems, ASHA introduces partners who support the organization's projects and activities, including system development, local operation and management, and advisory services.
