Health Education for Junior High School Students
We conduct basic health knowledge and first aid education for junior high school students in Nepal. The goal is to enhance health literacy by empowering individuals with knowledge and skills in first aid and home medicine. This enables them to make informed decisions about appropriate self-care and when to seek medical attention. Until the academic year 2021, the focus was primarily on theoretical learning, with practical demonstrations limited to first aid. From FY 2022, we have been gradually expanding the practical education content.
Course Content
In the basic classes, we cover topics such as injury assessment, methods of stopping bleeding, and procedures for handling fractures and snake bites. Advanced classes address a variety of themes, including burns, heart attacks, choking incidents, and dealing with dog bites. Additionally, topics cover various aspects, including transporting an injured person.
The classes have been held at 8 junior high schools in project sites since 2021, with approximately 430 students attending. The system is being utilized in situations where first aid is required on a daily life.
